DR. RUSSELL

My journey to become a Doctor of Chiropractic began as a patient. Growing up in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada sports was a huge part of my youth. I loved soccer, track and field, basketball, volleyball, but my greatest passion came when I laced up my ice hockey skates. At the age of 16, I was invited to Canada's national under 17 hockey camp, it was there that my troubles began. I did not finish the week of camp because of a torn hamstring muscle. I made the mistake of not treating it, just resting until I felt better and continued on with my hockey career.

I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to play hockey and Michigan State University and graduated in 1991. I was drafted by the Hartford Whalers , but still with nagging back and leg problems I showed up for training camp. It was there I was introduced to a Chiropractor, it was the answer I was looking for. I began to get relief from my pain, and my journey to healing began.

After two years of professional hockey, I retired from professional hockey to pursue my new dream of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. My passion for sports continues through my work as I enjoy helping others reach their potential and alleviate their pain and continue on a path of wellness. I have completed my post graduate fellowship in Chiropractor Sports Medicine and Clinical Nutrition to better serve my patients.

I have lived and practiced in Traverse City since 1998. I am currently involved in youth sports through the Grand Traverse Hockey Association serving as a youth coach. I am married to Molly (Piche") Russell, a native of Traverse City whom I met at Michigan State while she was completing her Masters in Exercise Physiology. We are blessed to have four children, Marcus, Jon, Maisy and Dan ( aka Rocket:)).
